This song originally started off as a flip of “Deep End” by Birdy and was one of the first 115 bpm tracks that I ever experimented with. When I decided that I wanted this song to be “Greed”, I began incorporating sounds like paper money being shuffled, coins/change, and other metallic fx to give it a bankroll feel. While writing and recording the lyrics, I was going for a very humble monotone approach to show the respect and diligence you must have with money and wealth versus the typical tone that is carried through other songs of this nature. This is one song on the album that takes a bit more of a dancier turn in the second half versus a darker, heavier display. The song is meant to portray the imagery of a growing money tree that you must tend to in order to maintain a healthy relationship in hopes of a return.
